Yeah, they get gross, but perfect for smoothies or banana bread.

I said almost frozen. Have you ever seen a banana with a green skin, and you take it home and it gets soft overnight, but the skin stays green, but you may even think its not ripe yet, and then pick it up one day and goosh!?

Ive only bought a few decent bananas this year, and one bunch was from a supermarket grand opening. All the others, organic or not, ripened way to fast after purchase. What ever is going on with the fruit in the city, it has no right to be called 'fresh', even though its dressed up like fresh fruit.

The use of pesticides has almost exterminated Drosophila fruit flies in many regions. There used to be a horde of them in my kitchen in the summer, but for ten years they've declined and I saw only one this past year.

Whenever anyone posts a problem and then ends their post with "discuss" I assume it is their homework assignment and they are too lazy to think up opinions on their own.

So... do your own homewirk, OP.

Homework? Hahaha!

I'm way too old to be in school. I was being facetious. Don't bite my head off.

Buy a couple Arrow/Dart frogs. They don't generate poison in captivity, but they eat the heck out of fruit flies.

Well, as far as the morality of wasting food, I do my very best not to waste animal products, especially meat, because a sentient being had to be killed in order for me to have that food. I still eat meat, and I'm not going to stop, but I try to keep in mind where it comes from.

Once we get past that, I am offended by wasting pretty much any food. When I lived by myself, I always said that my garbage wouldn't support even a good-sized mouse.
