Massive recall hits Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Walmart, more over listeria and salmonella scare

At the end of the article there is a list of the states involved in this recall.

I think it is wise to avoid prepared food items. There seems to be so many ways for them to be contaminated.

It is not a reason for me. I buy organic fruits and veggies at WF every week. I also buy good quality ground beef, Icelandic yogurt, low sodium chicken broth, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and a few other things. But I tend to stay away from prepared salads and other mixed dishes I would normally eat raw.

When I eat an apple, I want to know that I am not also eating pesticide residues.

I really am glad I make all our food. Not that heads of lettuce and other ingredients couldn't be contaminated too.

It could happen to any food distribution source. Unless you've got a plot of land you're living exclusively from there is always a risk of somewhere in the supply chain getting contaminated food. These chains probably sell produce to hundreds of millions of people in a year, take a realistic look at risk.

very good point...…. 40 years ago 90% of the food dollar was prepared in the home.....today its 40-60% depending on demographics

all these meals consumed every day …. overall we have a safe food supply considering ...whats consumed..

my stores sell over 30 million dollars of meat and deli items per year an (knock on wood) we havent had one instance/problem..we do a ton of meals to go but we have extensive training programs and sanitation certifications

What is hitting TJ's and W Foods is a problem that has affected every single sector of food distribution from supermarkets to restaurant distributors.

So I take it you raise your own crops and food animals?
