We stopped doing the full blown turkey and trimmings several years ago.

Now I usually start the day by heating up the breakfast casserole and then I'll make a lasagna or my chicken & rice casserole for dinner. As long as Mrs. Stripes gets a couple of slices of jellied cranberry sauce, she's happy as a lark.

So, with a little prep work and a little cleanup afterwards, it's a great food day and the family is happy.

People that aren't willing to do the cooking have no right to complain about having dinner at a restaurant.....or to announce what they want served or foods they won't eat (barring diagnosed medical issues). My family is now SOL....no one else would ever host and we quit last year.

I'm alone. Nothing special happening in the cooking department, but I will be thankful for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me.

All Americans have something to be thankful for. Just being in America with nothing to speak of puts you in the top 10% world wide. It's a sobering thought that behooves everyone to be thankful.

I'm HOPING not to cook. If it's only me or me and I other, I'll do a roast chicken Paul Prudhomme-style.

My son asked me what I wanted to do about Thanksgiving dinner. I told him anything but cook it.

We're going to go out to eat, but the places where we'd prefer to go are closed on the holiday.
