Does anyone know the cause of this? I cook a serving of Cream of Rice. It thickens well as it should. However, several minutes later, it goes thin and watery? What could I be doing wrong? Oddly, this does not happen every time. So, it must be something I'm doing wrong along the way. Thanks.

Boil water, add cream of wheat, but lower heat to simmer right away. Keep stirring continually. If it's thin and watery, not enough cereal to thicken it. It tells you on package cereal to water amounts. I'd follow that. I used to make it a lot. I had opposite problem, sometimes it came out too thick.

I promise. That is how I do it - how I've always done it. But, once in a while, after it thickens, it goes watery. At one time I suspected the extra salt I was adding but that didn't seem to be it.

Ah well. I'll probably never know. Thanks.
