My go to in this situation is spanikopita. It can be served cold, is vegetarian accessible, and counts as a main dish.

It is a bit more difficult than a crockpot meal though, so you need to be a dedicated cook to pull it off.

I'd go for sweet and sour meatballs or scalloped potatoes with ham and cheese. A slow cooker/crock pot will keep them warm.

spanikopita as a main dish? I like them, but they're not an entree.

I’ve had them for dinner before.

Maybe some sort of crockpot chilli? Make it either vegetarian or with turkey?

Chili is definitely a hit at a potluck. My husband takes white chili -- made with ground turkey and white beans instead of kidney beans -- to an annual potluck where he volunteers. McCormick actually has a white chili seasoning packet, which is very good.

We make it the day before, refrigerate overnight, then heat it up in the microwave before putting it back in the crockpot, which he takes to the office. It stays on warm for a few hours before the meal begins. Works great!

I have a crock pot that I can plug in to warm the dish, so ideally it needs to work in that, or be served cold. I've thought about meatballs served in the chili sauce/grape jelly mix, BBQ beef served shredded and saucy, possibly pulled pork shoulder. Main dish means meat, right?

Any ideas on what to serve? Pork loin is cheap this week at my local market but I can't think of what to make from it in a crock pot or to be served from a crock pot. Chicken breast is another option, I just don't know what to do with it to serve a crowd from the crock. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
If you haven't decided yet and I haven't read the thread, I like the idea of pulled pork It works well in a crock pot and add some rolls: everyone will love you. In fact went to a card party, pot luck a couple of weeks ago and by far, the most successful dish was the pulled pork with rolls someone had brought, Your idea of meat balls is a good one as well. Yes, main dish normally means meat of come kind. Chicken breasts can get dry if left in a crock pot so if thinking chicken think a more moist part of the chicken. I say no to the chili.. It is good and something most everyone likes, but way to messy to eat at a pot luck.

The mac and cheese idea sounds pretty good, I don't know how the mac will hold up if cooked for hours. I guess you could bring it and not plug it in until an hour or so before serving. Mac does not do well if overcooked or cooked to slowly. I did like the suggestion of a meatless dish as there could be vegetarians in the group, but again, you would have to make that decision For me, I would probably not have thought about that

I like the meatballs, but I think of them as an appetizer unless there's pasta to go with them.
I was thinking the same thing about meat balls: more of an appetizer than a main dish

You cannot go wrong with pulled pork. My go-to is a simple ham. Spiral cut, heated with coke, kept warm in a crock pot. Add some good slider rolls.

Pulled pork has two additional advantages:

1. Use a bbq sauce that is gluten free. (I'll leave out the somewhat snarky remarks going through my head.). There are several good ones: https://www.verywellfit.com/gluten-f...e-sauce-562365

2. The same gluten free folks, as well as those who attempt to avoid carbs (not eliminate), can eat the meat without the roll.

The vegetarians are out of luck.
