Mince pie was my Dad's favorite, so it would be on the table every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I liked it, but only a small sliver, it's very rich. My siblings hated it, which was just fine with Dad, he could make that pie last and last. My husband proposed to me on Thanksgiving one year, and brought my father a mince pie when he asked for my hand. Incredibly, he made the entire pie from scratch, dicing and soaking the fruit for days. He even included beef suet. My father was impressed and said it was the best pie he'd ever tasted. The only one too, my husband never repeated that gesture!

Dad is gone, and I haven't had mince pie in years.

Great. But always with a cup of tea or coffee of course.

I loved the mince pie my Mom used to make. After she passed away my Dad experimented and made some that were a close second. I have not attempted it myself. I have made a vegetarian version that I really like and is very easy. I make that every couple of years or so.

Never had the opportunity to taste one and haven't sought it out. I remember reading about them in various English literature.

I just use the package or the jar. I wouldn’t attempt to make it from scratch.

It’s my husband’s favorite. I just ordered some gluten free mince pies from Amazon. In the past, we made them but this year I’m already going to bake lots of cookies, so I put my effort there.

I have some jarred mince meat...I plan on making one for Christmas. With some spirits added for extra flavor. I love it warm topped with vanilla ice cream.

My mil loved mince pie, so I occasionally tried it. Not great, not awful.

Mince Pies are very much a part of Christmas in the UK.

I luv home made Mince pies as well! Thanks!

They also remind me of a British poster that I have not seen in months He helped me regarding the old fashioned Mince pies that had meat in them ("Dirt Grinder")

Does anyone out there make them with meat, the old fashioned way?

Merry Christmas everyone!

I have always liked mincemeat pie. My grandmother made it when I was young. When we lived in Fayetteville, Ar we could get mincemeat at Richard's Meat Mkt during the fall months and make pies. It was the best I have ever had.
