Filet mignon with Bordelaise sauce, steamed asparagus with lemon juice, and chicken Rice A Roni. I hadn’t had Rice A Roni in years.

My cheat Bordelaise sauce is shallot sautéed in butter with some thyme. Red wine. A bit of More Than Gourmet Demi glace base, a bit of sugar to correct the tannin bitterness, and thickened a bit with Wondra.

I had the chicken with a small corn on the cob -- too tired to make more of an effort. (I mean, gee, my regular stir-fried veggies take 40 minutes ...)

The chicken was good (and I have 1 thigh left for tomorrow) but tasted basically the same as when I bake thighs in the oven. The big difference, of course, is I can use the air fryer in the summer when I would NOT want to use the oven. But so far that's the only benefit I see? Maybe I'm missing something?
Oh my, what will help you is a good air fryer cook book, just to give you ideas on what all you can cook in them. Yes, of course the benefit of not heating the oven is one feature, plus not using any or very little oil is another and the speed saves time in some cases. I don't think there are some things, regardless of the recipes I would bother with, but I use it at least 3 or 4 times a week. You do have to experiment a bit to find what works the best for you.
