we have that for breakfast on NY Day, but without the champagne. Instead we will have Bloody Mary's. For dinner, it is to granddaughters house for a traditional NYs dinner: ham, black eyes peas, and greens. The rest of us will bring side dishes: I am doing a squash casserole. Of course we will be watching football.

Cabbage, potato, apple, sauerkraut dish with caraway seeds

toasted buns with swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onion

Growing up, my family always had pork and saurkraut on New Years Day. I have German ancestry in my blood. I am pescetarian now so I leave out the pork but this dish is still amazing even without it. I've also added vegan Field Roast "sausages" to this, but my body does NOT like processed vegetarian meat very well so I am leaving it out for today.

Trout with lemon, and a nice salad with Ina Garten Buttermilk dressing. Warm, buttery croutons.
