Most will cringe at this response but honestly here on L.I.N.Y. without spending a fortune at our mostly overrated overpriced seafood restaurants I vote for Red Lobster. The coating is crispy and flavorful and just the right shrimp to coating ratio.

I agree. The OP is specifically looking for a chain and so this is the one to go to for reasonably priced and decent friend shrimp.

I would agree with this.

It's not as good as fresh from the gulf...there IS a difference...but yeah, Red Lobster is pretty good.

Depends on where you are. Here on the gulf they’re not hard to find at all. Lots of locally owned places on the island (Galveston) or on the mainland.
The good ones aren’t overly breaded, imho.
Even here, most chains use generic frozen shrimp. Your best bet is to try out a local spot.

I ate at Bubba Gumps and wasn't impressed.

Crazy, but I haven't been to a Red Lobster since before they went non-smoking and I was there with my (smoking) mom. Maybe it's time to go back....

I much prefer batter to breading and the shrimp flavor definitely come through.

Mom loves going to Red Lobster and I am happy to take her.

I have noticed the experience does vary by location...
