The mayor of the Romagna capital city of Bologna is fed up with tourists trying to order spaghetti bolognese because there's no such thing. It's just another made up "Italian" food like parmesan cheese. I guess the man who is very proud of the local food of Romagna which is arguably the best food in Italy just couldn't take it anymore.
BTW, I spent a good part of my childhood in Romagna and spaghetti is not a regular food there. I never ate it growing up and it was never served at home.
I thought this was funny.

Basta!

They couldn't quote him saying "Basta!" because everyone would have thought it was a typo.

So I'm saying it for him: Basta!

I can understand his frustration. It's very likely that he wants everyone to understand how AMAZING the food is in Bologna; that it's not anything like this made-up version of "Italian food." Just as "lasagna" everywhere is nothing like lasagne in Naples (or at least made by someone from that region). I'm drooling for some macaronis now.

Bolognese sauce is a sauce, irrespective of the specific pasta. It's fine to call it Spaghetti Bolognese when the pasta is spaghetti.

Yes indeed but most tourists believe Bolognese sauce is something other than it really is. The sauce tourists call "bolognese" hardly resembles the real sauce.
"The authentic Italian dish that most closely resembles spaghetti bolognese is tagliatelle al ragł — flat ribbons of handmade egg pasta served in a very, very slow-cooked sauce of beef, vegetables, tomatoes and wine."

Next you'll be telling me they don't have Oscar Mayer Bologna in Italy and little kids there don't grow up eating bologna sandwiches.
