Default Grocery Stores in Your Area

What are the main supermarkets (chain AND local!) in your area?

Which do you usually shop at?

In the Duluth, MN area we have:

* Super One - A local / regional chain owned by Miners Inc., itself headquartered right outside Duluth in Hermantown. Probably has the biggest market share in the area. Several locations in the city.

* Cub Foods - A larger Midwestern chain based in Minneapolis. Only one location AFAIK in the Duluth area.

* Whole Foods Co-Op - NOT to be confused with the similarly-named national chain, this is a medium-sized co-op grocery store specializing in organic and similar goods.

* Super Wal-Mart - Locations in Superior and Cloquet, but not in Duluth.

We do almost all of our grocery shopping at Super One. Go local!

I go to whichever one we are closest to running errands cause of gas prices $$. Butera - a local small chain - it's closest and on my way home. Or Meijer superstore.

Ah, I miss Meijer so much!

In Denver we have:

King Soopers
Safeway
Albertsons
Whole Foods/Wild Oats
Sunflower Market
Vitamin Cottage
Super Target
Walmart

I'm sure there are others too...but I do my normal shopping at Safeway or King Soopers. Once in a while I'll go to Super Target, or Whole Foods or Sunflower, but only for specific things...

We have Giant and Food Lion,Safeway and Acme's by us...
Giant & Safeway are far better than Food Lion-they are horrible in my opinion.
We also have Trader Joe's in Annapolis, not far from us,but don't shop there because of the distance.

I am from Rochester,NY originally and if you have never shopped at a WEGMAN's you should try if you are ever in the NE area of the US. Prominent in the Rochester,NY area but have expanded to NJ,PA & a few in MD now as well and VA too.

Charlotte Metro:

Harris Teeter (based in Matthews, NC just utside Charlotte. The nicest, but usually most expensive. Sales are good though).

Food Lion and Bloom, based in Statesville, but owned by Belhaize, who also own Hannaford's. Store is not very good. Sales are not good, don't double coupons, don't carry enough organics or variety.

Bi-lo: kinda between HT and Food Lion.

Aldi...I love Aldi...but not one real close to me.

Super Target; Super Walmart.

Earth Fare, Asheville, NC based natural foods chain...2nd largest in US next to Whole Foods.

2 Trader Joe's (not my favorite store, sorry fans, even though I know they are the same owners as Aldi.)

Local natural foods store with 3 locations called Home Economist Market...pretty good.
