I hope this isn't a repeat thread. When you pick up a fast good meal to be eaten at home, how do you eat it once you get there? Do you eat it straight out of the bag or box it came in, or do you put it on a normal porcelain plate and eat it with real utensils? Burgers and fries, burritos, etc. are handheld foods, although they can still be plated. But a fried chicken meal from KFC or fish and chips from Long John Silver's are more like plate-and-utensils foods. Let alone something from Panda Express.

I, personally, plate it and eat it like a normal meal. (Except for soda in its cup.) Feels more satisfying that way. Unless it's 2:00 AM and I'm exhausted. Then I eat it straight out of the package, before conking out for the night. It's usually a small thing anyway, like a single taco, so plating would be redundant.

How do the rest of the people on this forum do it? Discuss!

If it's just food for one or more of my kids, I usually hand them the bag and they eat out of the store wrappers. This is generally either a burger & fries, chicken strips & fries, or a sub sandwich. I don't eat any of that stuff.

If we get take-out for an actual family meal (Thai food, Mediterranean food, Chinese food) we are all sharing it, so I put out our normal ceramic plates and metal utensils and we dish out our portions.

Pizza goes on ceramic plates. This is about it for take-out, for us.

For future clarification, this thread applies specifically to fast food, rather than take-out from a sit-down restaurant. (The latter is meant to be plated in normal circumstances, while fast food is usually not.)

Depends upon what the food is. I will pour the fries out onto a plate because I like to put the ketchup on the fries as opposed to dipping them. Taco's and burrito's from Taco Bell I will put on a plate (still in their wrappers) because they are messy to eat. Pizza, Chinese food also goes on a plate.

Case by case basis, depends on the type of food. We will plate pizza, Mexican food, fried chicken, Chinese food; but usually eat burgers right out of the package.

Plate it - paper plate. I ordered "fast food" so I didn't have to cook, why would I want to do dishes? (I don't have an automatic dishwasher)

When we order take out, it isn't fast food. It depends on the food whether we eat out of the container(s) or plate it. Italian (not pizza) is generally eaten from the container(s), while Thai or Chinese is plated.

The perks of getting fast food once in awhile is that I don't have to do dishes. I do eat pizza on a plate, paper if I happen to have them at home, which is rare.
