Popeye's new chicken sandwich has apparently taken on Chick-fil-A in the fast food battle, and many are calling it superior. It's been all over the news, at least here in the south where Chick-Fil-A loyalty runs deep.
I was out with my boss for a work function this morning, on the way back we decided to stop and grab something to eat, and I suggested we try out this Popeye's version. The parking lot was insane, and the car line to order and pick up at the window wrapped onto the street. My boss got out and tried to walk inside, the line went to the door. And then they came out and announced they had run out of the sandwiches, at 12:30 pm.
So, has anybody tried them, and found them worth the recent hype?

Reason: Merged 2 threads on same topic.
I want to try it as well, but I'll just hold off until the pandemonium tones down. It's kind of amazing how a few well-placed social media postings can manipulate people like the Pied Piper. Popeyes spicy chicken is excellent, so I'm guessing the sandwich won't be that much different.
Bojangles is better than both CFA and Popeyes, in my opinion.
Definitely Bojangles for their fried chicken.
But popeyes better have one helluva chicken sandwich to rival the popular CFA sandwich!!
I'm waiting as well.
I love a good spicy breaded chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A's sandwiches have never impressed me so much. I love Popeye's spicy bone - in fried chicken, and I'm sure this is just as good. I have both restaurants nearby, but rarely go to either.

These chains are mainly US based, although Popeyes is apparently opening restaurants in Spain, and may expand to other areas of Europe.

Have no idea where you live or what you watch and read, but there has been no hype around here about the sandwiches. I love Popeye's and may stop and get a sandwich next time we are out shopping. BTW we live in the south as you can see. We love Chick-Fil-A as well.
They will never beat Chik-Fil-A on customer service and a clean, friendly restaurant, but competition in the marketplace is a good thing.
Agree: they are to Chicken like INandOut restaurants are to hamburgers in my book.
