Reviving this thread to ask--has anyone had any trouble this summer getting replacement gas canisters? Mine recently ran out, and just doing an onlilne search, it looks like most of the sources in my area (Target, Staples, BB&B, etc.) and even the soda stream website are out of stock.

I fill my own.

You can buy a food grade tank and an adapter valve. You can then get it filled at several different places.

I went one step further and bought a 20lb Co2 tank from Airgas and the appropriate valve so I fill my own. I also make sure to get a food grade gas. They use these tanks on beverage fountains and beer kegs at bars and restaurants.

It is some money up front but will pay for itself eventually. I don't drink store-bought soda, so the sparkling water allows me to use lemon/lime and other natural flavors to make my own soda.

The local Bed Bath Beyond seems to have plenty of them in stock; I got one about a month ago.

The local Ace Hardware has a whole shelf of them, but I prefer BBB because of the 20% coupon.

I'm in Mass. Maybe the shortage is regional?

Hmm, could be regional. I haven't done a lot of in-store shopping in the current situation, so I was trying to place a curbside pickup order for the gas canister. Maybe the in-store stock is different than what's on the website.

I got rid of mine after like 6 months of use. It's not worth it and expensive. The canister is only good for maybe 50 or so drinks before it needs refill. Each refill is about $8-11 if you know where to get it cheap, must use gourmet Carbon.
