I am not making it up: $412, $340, $312, $501, $523. WOWSA! Where is this economy (and Whole Foods stock) that is supposedly going to he** in a handbasket???? It isn't here. I live in northern Phoenix/north Scottsdale area. In fact it is hard to even get a parking spot to get into the Whole Foods by me most times of the day (and it sucks walking from the far end of the parking lot when it is 110'...)-unless you go really really early or really really late.
Wowsa is right, I may spend up to $30 when I go to Whole Foods.

Default Whole Foods way to expensive

Whole Foods has become outrageous over the years. I just paid $4.50 for a very small loaf of wheat bread. I needed bread and that was the cheapest there. I'm not going back. Why are we keeping them in business?

I agree with almost all of these posts. Don't get me wrong, I love Whole Foods, but I cannot afford to shop there on a weekly basis! As it stands now I spend an average of about 160.00 per week at the local supermarket. It would be more like 300.00 at whole foods...way too rich for my blood!

I love Whole Foods, but I only shop there when I am looking for something I can't get at the other grocery stores. Lunch is good too

I only go there as a last resort. Ended up there for leeks not too long ago, and parmesan cheese of all things. If it doesn't come ground up in a green can it's too exotic for Food Lion I guess. Then again, Food Lion is a pit.

Because they use real ingredients and not high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, Splenda, and dyes with assorted numbers.

I don't have Whole Foods in my part of NC, but we have The Fresh Market which is basically the same. I do not use FM as a grocery store, I will go to Super WalMart for the canned goods, rice mixes etc. Sam's Club for the bulk paper items and detergents. When it comes to the highest quality of organic vegetables, fruit, fish, meats and cold cuts, Fresh Market is the only place I will go. Their meats have almost no fat in them, so instead of my husband having 2 chicken breasts bought somewhere else, he is having one and you can taste the difference. We don't go out to restaurants because I can cook much better than what we can get out, so in our home it is definitely worth the extra money. If I pay $7.50 for 2 split c. breasts, $2.00 broccoli, $1.50 for 2 potatoes dinner for 2 less than $6.00 a piece. Combining the 3 stores I average between $65-$75 a week.

They call it Whole Paycheck for a reason.

I like organic food and prefer it but some of the prices are pretty steep.

Whole Foods has my Rice Milk a bit cheaper and in the larger sizes than I can find in Kroger or Publix. It also has the Kettle Popcorn that I love. Sometimes the sodas are cheaper than Coke. I also like the Kiss My Face Brand that can be hit or miss at other stores. Sometimes, it's all about what's on sale. Surprisingly, the bagged salads are cheaper too.
