Good luck with yours. I am sure it will be fantastic.

Not only was it good, it was fantastic and her husband, who is not always the hit of the party was the perfect host. We had a really nice day with good food. Now next year it will be our turn or our daughters turn to host. I do have a prime rib in the freezer that I am anxious to cook, but first I have to get over the holiday mood and relax a bet.

I tried 2 cookies: One was actually a pumpkin cheese bar. I tried to adjust the recipe down, will not do it next time, but will bake both of them again.

One new thing we tried was to make a poundcake-fruitcake. I like it but we will modify the next one to use small bits of fresh cherries and small bits of fresh pineapple. Then perhaps doctor it with some good bandy followed with a lemon glaze.

I baked a couple of batches of cookies which are old reliables. I have decided to ditch the chocolate ones. I just don’t think they are good enough for the trouble. So, next year, I’ll try out a new cookie recipe.

I made brownies using the JOC recipe. They were properly fudgy. I liked them very well. But I might sneak some baking powder into them the next time I bake them.
