It has been one of the better batches. Next batch will have some finely diced sweet raw onion in it.

Sounds tasty! One of the favorite recipes of my early marriage years was bean burritos - refried beans (always from a can back then), lots of chopped white or sweet onion & grated sharp cheddar, all rolled up in a big tortilla and heated in a low oven till cheese was melted and tortilla lightly crisped. Sometimes I added a fresh salsa or chopped radish inside.

I've got a crazy on a quick and easy Mexican style pizza using a spreadable topping premade on a premade crust for when there are just minutes to make. 10 minutes or less. Maybe a chance on Monday....

Did you ever have one of those days when you can’t think of anything new and exciting to make for dinner? That was me today.
I had every kind of protein in the freezer, but needed some variety for the rest. I went to the Fresh Market, which is like Whole Foods, and bought a few of their salads, like seafood and Greek pasta and served them with fried clams and artisan rolls. It was a good cure for the cooking doldrums.

Today I became a believer in the differences between kinds of flour. I know that places like King Arthur make many different kinds of flour for different purposes, but I’ve only ever used mainstream all purpose flour. I bought some White Lily on sale, and the pizza dough I made tonight was the best ever. It had to be because of the flour.

Playtime today - I have four of the infamous 3-tier wire racks attached to the pantry doors, nicely done in hammer something paint. Yesterday I picked up several cases of canning jars (Mason, quilted) in three sizes and plastic screw lids. Time to get rid of the spice jar assortment. Kitchen smalls like a bazaar:>)

seems like I re-do the spice cabinet monthly and it still needs some changes. We have a spice store not too far away that sells spices at a price I don't mind spending. Because they are so inexpensive I don't feel bad about tossing them when they lose their kick.

I just noticed a store near me sells spices by, I think it's weight. I think I want start buying them this way. I hate having to buy a big jar at the supermarket and I don't use it up before it weakens. Next time I need a spice I am going to try them.

In our new house (built in 1936) someone took out the ironing board from the built in cabinet. Remember when kitchens had built in ironing boards? They made that cabinet into a spice cabinet. Oh it is adorable and practical! Thank you very much former owner!

We have a built-in ironing board in a house we are about to sell as we don't intend on ever going back to it to live. It has always been in the way and that might just be a solution to better utilize the space.
