I was going to fry some spam for dinner. I open the can and spam was expired. The smell alone made me throw up. I just bought it and the expiration date is in 2023.

Why would it be expired?

That's why I don't eat spam because it's processed in a factory that probably gotten contaminated during the canning process.

I don't know why, but I'd take it back to the store. I like spam every now & then. Memories of childhood.

Call the number on the can, or email. I had that with a canned, milk-based beverage and they said it could be something like a pinhole in the seal and they wanted all the numbers and etc., from the cane and they sent me coupons - which I never used because the smell put me off that badly.

Somehow air got in.

Probably one of the rare defects in sealing the can.

The can cost what?
A buck fifty?
Is that really worth your time to hassle with it?

I personally have had some good spam meals.

It works well on the BLT thing and some other decent cheap meals like that.
I’m ok with spam and eggs at times but it is just spam.

I just can not ever see me ever jumping up and down for a $1.50 refund.

Does it suck?
Yeah.

Is it worth the hassle ?
No.

All the best.

If you call the company, they will probably send you a $5 or $10 certificate for future purchases. But yes - up to you if worth it.

I Had an issue with Tyson chicken recently. Found a nylon string inside the frozen air friend chicken strips. They sent me a $15 certificate

At $3- $3.50 a can, yes, it would be worth returning to the supermarket.+

================

ANY product defect is worth reporting to the manufacturer because it is more than likely a problem that will affect a number of cans in the manufacturing process. And yes, i do that.

It's not just the money; it's the fact that something went wrong somewhere along the line and might be fixable.

Actually. at least in this neck of the woods a can of Spam will set you back by about $3.00, unless you get it on sale- I've seen sales at 2 for $5.00. Or you can get it in larger quantities ( such as a case of 6 or 8 cans at around $2.00+change a can.

If I got a spoiled can that was within its expiration date, I'd take it back to the store. Or, as was mentioned, contact the processors or whoever's number that is on the can.
