Deep fried alligator. (Had at a Cajun restaurant.) Also mussels.
But even more strange to me now than being initially averse to "esoteric" foods is that I never thought I would like chili or any kind of fish except "tunafish" sandwiches and fish sticks. This was because my mom was a terrible cook who made very few things that did not have tomato soup or hamburger (usually both) as the main ingredient.
My husband is a very good cook, and it was only though his efforts that I changed my mind about many kinds of foods.
Only enjoyed kangaroo once in my life, on a trip to Sydney, Australia. Was hesitant at first, but after having a few cold “Victoria Bitters” or “VB” (local lager/beer) with my traveling companions, we ordered kangaroo steaks and they were delicious!
Never tried emu.

The sushi mega-boat, just about everything on it. The meaty tougher sushis I like, octopus, shark, etc., and don't like the mushy stuff.
Wouldn't eat tomatoes growing up, now I grow them.
Went to a $350 restaurant in Florence, medieval traditional cooking done snooty style, brains, lungs, calf hooves dumpster stuff (to me) on the menu, I had the chicken parmesean, call me chicken if you like...I was.
Corn bread was an adventure and I learned to be it.
