Getting so tired of this. Sometimes foods clearly taste/ smell like they were stored near scented products before being placed out on the shelving.
The laundry/air freshener aisle should be in a separate room?
Anyone else experience "fragrant" groceries?

Yes. ALL the time. It's revolting.

It has never happened to me, but if it did, I'd take it back. Unless it was an improvement on the product

Sometimes they get shipped that way. I don't think it's supposed to happen but we have had totes pulled off the truck that are so strong with the smell of laundry freshener you know what's in there before you ever even open the tote. And they get stacked up alongside totes that have food items in them, so yeah, not surprised at all. (OTOH lifesaver peppermints are also so strong they too scent just about everything they are shipped in the same tote with.)

What food are we talking about? Almost everything is wrapped air tight in cellophane, foil or canned except for fresh vegetables and meat. I know I must be missing something.

Yes. I avoid stores like that. Fragrant stuff should be placed separate from food. I also don't like the cacophony of smells - way too strong. All those chemicals just give me headache.
And you are right, the scent transfers to food.

Your question sort of suggested another one. If you pick packaged food up off a store shelf and realize it smells like something else, why would you buy it?
