We did a lot of homemade pizza during the worst months of the pandemic. I've definitely scaled back on it as the other kind of scale reflected an upward trend.

We typically have take out pizza once or twice a month. Pizza is one of my favorite foods-especially homemade. There are some many great variations. If I could, I'd eat it a couple of times a week.

Is once a week too much? Is it like Pizza Hut and totally greasy and unhealthy? Do you eat healthy the rest of the week?
Why does pizzas have to be unhealthy? This tortilla pizza has a drizzle of EVOO, Parmesan, chicken, sauteed mushroom, onion, and jalapeno. It has about 5g of fat and 22g of carbs.

It doesn't. That's why I asked the question.

There is a wide variety of pizzas out there, anything from the heavily-processed frozen kind (loaded with preservatives and crap) to a gourmet variety made from scratch in a local pizzeria or Italian restaurant. Part of the conversation depends on the level of quality we're referring too.

There's also a big difference between the digestibility of a 20-something individual vs. a 70-something person given the same pizza.

I probably only average a slice or two a month, or every two months, of the fresh local kind.

Chicago is world famous for its pizzerias. Tried one out that was a few blocks away from the White Sox stadium. Thin crust supreme, and very well made.
As far as frequency, it really depends. I like to make them from scratch(Sicilian style crust) at least once in a while.

Here in CT Italians are the majority so there's a pizza shop every few yards along the street, sort of. Probably really good pizza but I'm allergic to dairy and anyway I don't care for most of their toppings or all that greasy cheese, so I buy Amy's dairy free roasted vegetable pizza, frozen. I add spinach, onions, olive oil, freshly sliced tomatoes, and it's good. No preservatives, just natural ingredients, like roasted artichokes. I'll eat half an Amy's pizza for lunch and the other half for supper or save for the next day.

Lately I've been having it once a week because it's too hot to cook and I can just heat this in the toaster oven. In winter I want something heartier than pizza though--and anyway we can't get fresh tomatoes in winter.

Right after the Super Bowl, I stopped at the Bimbo Bakeries retail outlet. They were selling a package of eight small Boboli pizza crusts with pizza sauce packets for $4. Since then, we have been doing a pizza night once every two weeks. Each week, I vary the toppings, the spicings, and the like. For $2 per individual pizza, I can make a better pizza than is available locally (Yes, that is like the 6" high hurdles.)
