Default Grocery stores in your area

State College, PA: Wegmans, Giant, Weis

East Lansing, MI (where I'm from): Meijer, Kroger, L&L Food Centers

Obviously Walmart is everywhere, so I don't think they count.

In the town I live in: Washburn Food Mart. Yes it is a small as it sounds, but Dan makes some killer fresh bread, rolls, donuts, and sweets every single morning. Fresh, still warm home-made bread for less than $1 a loaf is OK by me.

A short 15 miles away there is Shop-N-Save, even though you don't "save" too much by shopping there. As well as a Wal-Mart. No other chain type grocery stores, just Mom & Pop places there as well.

Chain grocery stores in this area include:

Shop Rite
A&P
PathMark
Stop N Shop
C-Town

There are many grocery stores that have just one or a few local locations such as Twin City supermarket, Bergen supermarket, Communipaw supermarket, etc.

For Trader Joes, Kings or Whole Foods I have to leave Jersey City and go to Hoboken or Edgewater.

There aren't any Wal Marts in my immediate vicinity, but I can tell you the locations in New Jersey aren't grocery stores.

Albertson's is called Jewel in the midwest, and Von's is called Dominick's.

Anyway, my current locale has: Albertson's, Von's, Smith's, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods. All major chains.
