I usually have it with steak fries, green beans in garlic butter and some french bread.

Aw jeez, I'm hungry now.

We also love to grill asparagus, spritz with olive oil and a touch of season salt. Our kids have to have sauteed mushrooms with their steak, have also thrown some sliced mushrooms in the special grill pan DH has and grill along with the asparagus.

Caesar salad, baked potato, and asparagus would be perfect.

A nice big garden salad and a pile of steamed broccoli or asparagus.

As I've gotten older (and fatter) I find that I prefer a less filling side dish than potatoes. I like a good salad, but my favorite veggie with steak is sauteed spinach. Add a few mushrooms and onions on the side and I can forget those potatoes ever existed!

Garlic mashed potatoes. It adds additional flavor to compliment a good rib-eye normally, regardless if you marinate or season the meat.

It's easy too... set the oven to about 250, take some aluminum foil and shape it into a bowl... peel some cloves of garlic and drop them into the foil bowl. Add some olive oil into the bowl and close it up. Pop it into the oven for about 30 mins. When it's done, the garlic should be very tender and the flavor of the garlic as seeped into the olive oil.

Then... I make the mashed potatos like normal, and mix in the olive oil and garlic (the garlic should fall apart somewhat while mixing).

There you have it!

Damn... I know what I'm making this weekend!!!

My favorite side dish to go with a grilled steak is cheese tortolini with three cheese alfredo sauce. Now I'm drooling on my keyboard again...
