I've used store bought mushrooms with brown age spots many times, no problem, knowing that they were days old in the 'fridge.
This time they were kept in the tight wrap without opening for several days .
Anybody else seen his before? Is it a problem?

If you're buying mushrooms and don't plan to use them for several days, it's better if you take them out of the shrink wrap and plastic container and transfer them loosely into a brown paper bag in your vegetable drawer in the fridge for optimum storing. I still would not hang onto them for more than a week. Unless they are slimy, you can still use them, I'd just trim off anything unsightly.
Your best bet is to buy the mushrooms within a day or two of when you are planning to use them. Same for fresh berries.

Thanks, but that doesn't give an opinion as what to do with this batch.
Sure, mushrooms deteriorate over time, faster when sealed up.
I can't see them so don't know if I'd eat or toss them.
I often freeze fresh 'shrooms for later use.
