Default Dangers of Chips

My knowledge is not extremely well on this issue but eating products like Lays Chips can result in greater chance of cancer. This food together with fries are very bad for you.
When I was younger I was so addicted. I ate it for most days of the week, a whole bag Thank God now I can control myself, and only eat a bag once every week and a week in between where I don't eat it at all.
But now I don't really know how often I can eat it in order to STAY very healthy.
What do you think? Also if you want, tell me your experiences with Chips..
Thanks.

I have never heard of potatoes giving someone cancer. Chips used to be made with hydrogenated oil which was bad for the heart, but now most are just potatoes, oil, and salt. I'm really not a big fan of potato chips, but I do love Fritos with a sandwich.

Exclamation Beware of the chips!!

A little thing called,"MSG." This flavor additive actually is known to grow cancer cells. If you look on the ingredients list you'll see that most of the BBQ and most of the flavored chips have this deadly additive. Some people are allergic to MSG, which causes a sort of hot flash-type effect.
Best to buy the all natural chips!

P.S. Most dips also have MSG!!! And some salad dressings-a long with almost all of the Campbell's soups!!!!! Bummer, I know!!

AKA: MONOSODIUM GLUCONATE

P.S. PLEASE DON"T KILL THE MESSENGER-LOL

So, at first it starts with lays, now its just BBQ and other flavored chips. You also included dips, soup and salad dressing as well. Strange how you change your post, so you were wrong, its just not lays chips?

You have any proof? From a credible source?

Here's what you do (Who's more credible to you than you-right?):

Load up in your car and head to your nearest grocery store. Once you've entered the store, head towards the chip and snack aisle. Pick up any Frito-Lay bag of flavored potato chips. Now, read all of the ingredients.

Now, once you've done that, and you are satisfied, head to the salad dressing aisle. Pick up the old style (Kraft just recently came out with some all natural ones) Kraft Ranch dressing. Or I know, better yet, pick up several and compare! Are you satisfied? Need some more proof?

Okay, then go to the soup aisle and take a look at all the Campbell soup cans and their ingredient lists-convinced yet? If not, take a look at Progresso's line of soups and their ingredient lists.

If you still aren't convinced, google MSG and read, read, read! This information is everywhere and is COMMON knowledge. I wish I could take the credit for this, and for putting out life saving info., but alas! I cannot.

P.S. Not trying to tick you off-"Just the facts Ma'am, just the facts."

MSG is actually monosodium glutamate, a non-essential amino acid.

That's the ingredient that USED TO be in most restaurant Chinese food that gave people headaches or palpitations. The FDA had it removed years ago from restaurant foods and many years ago required it removed from, or reduced in quantity in, most American foods for sale in stores. Jadybug is correct that it is in Campbell's soups and many other products. However, today the quantities in any given product are quite small.

I'm guessing that if the OP is concerned about any food, the first thing to do is carefully read the Ingredients, study what ingredients are and do, and then choose food products.

I think Lays original potato chips are one great reason to live! So I guess the point -- as with everything -- is to enjoy them in moderation, eh?

I think what you may be referring to is a study by some Swiss scientists that showed that when carbohydrates were fried, they produced a substance called acrylamide which is a carcinogen. Just google "fried carbohydrates"+cancer and you'll find plenty of articles that describe this problem. It's not just potatoes, any carbohydrate when fried produces this substance.

Talking Just Enjoy Life And Live It The Way You Want

OMG, every time you turn around somebodies saying something will cause cancer. i look at it like this, if it's your turn to go it's your turn to go. no matter what you eat drink or what ever. it doesn't matter. hell, you might even get hit in the parking lot at walmart and die way before you die from cancer.
