We enjoy foraging.
We go after blackberries and blueberries when in season.
Those are plentiful where we are at.

Mushroom hunting is big here.
There are so many different species it is overwhelming to me.
I’m just not savvy enough to go mushroom hunting alone but thankfully a friend of mine has offered to take me and show me how not to kill myself.
When I lived near San Francisco every few years a new to the area family would get devastated with deaths and or liver/kidney failure that result in dialysis treatments from eating the wrong mushrooms so I have always left them alone.

One thing I am blessed to do is beach foraging.
We have a full variety of things we can harvest from our backyard.
There are 7 species of clams, 4 different types of oysters (I raise 3 types), Dungeness crabs and one of my favorites is seaweed.
I can prepare a nice side dish of seaweed that shocks most people with its wonderful flavors.
I never harvest seaweed off the beach though.
