You went on your mini rant, but managed to NOT actually cover the topic.

There are a couple of Mom & mom-and-pop pizza restaurants around me that run circles around the chains. But since this is about chains.

1. Round Table Pizza (This might be just a West Coast Chain)
2. Dominos - They've gotten better
3. Pizza Hut - They've gotten worse
4. Little Ceasers - Never were great

I'd also throw in a Costco Food Court Pizza, it isn't from a Pizza place, but for $10 very good party pizza.

Only eat this when at events / outings. Obviously there is so much variance even within the chains -this is based on local area (NE Ohio) ranked in order with comments:

Marco's - best nearby ; way too salty you need a liter of liquid rest of evening
Domino's - since recipe redo in 2009 has been palatable
Papa John's - OK but still sauce too sweet
Little Caesar's - took over the pre-2009 Domino's place holder as closest to cafeteria pizza / cardboard dough etc.
Pizza Hut - an oil grease bomb with sugary sauce - I feel arteries thicken and stomach revulsion if consumed.

For personal consumption I find it convenient and better to buy the ready to bake at Aldi and add seasoning spices / mushroom and fresh basil to a pepperoni/ sausage and get better quality.

Pizza Hut, Domino's, Little Caesars, Papa Johns

The first two I can eat and not have any problems. The last two.. I had better have a Zantac or something or I'm gonna be throwing up in my mouth that night. Which is the reason they're at the bottom of my list.

Since the hubs will only eat pepperoni pizza, our choices stuck to that. We had a really good LIttle Caesars with their extra topping pizza. But they closed. Then we had a good Papa John's. but they closed. Now we just have dominos, who really short you on cheese, and Pizza Hut who is wildly inconsistent. I'd love to try Marcos but they are an hour away.

If I had to choose one, I'd pick Domino's, followed by Papa Johns and Pizza Hut, with Little Caesars taking a very far last place. While I've found where the pizza is being made makes a big difference (the local tap water is key I've found, so Domino's in Hawaii hasn't been as good as Domino's in NYC for example), I can at least tolerate Domino's and the other two. Little Caesars, I've found to be not good at all, though they were a little better than I recall CiCi's Pizza being (not that this is saying much).

To answer the OP’s question:

1. Papa John’s
2. Pizza Hut
3. Dominos
4. Little Caesars

Won’t order from any of them now, though. Make from scratch, including sauce. Top with fresh veggies: onions, garlic, green peppers, etc.
Absolutely avoid frozen pizza at all costs. Processed food is junk.
