When the kids were younger we had a schedule based on what restaurants had deals for children.

Monday was spaghetti at home, Tuesday was Domino's pizza and a movie from Blockbusters, Wednesday was church night for one kid where they served a meal, so the rest of us just made sandwiches. Thursdays was dinner out at Quincy's where kids eat free under 12. Fridays I don't remember how we dealt with it, the kids were pretty busy all weekend.

Didn't eat school lunches, either. My mom made us brown-bag lunches. That was always a sandwich of some sort, a dessert like cookies or cake, and an apple.
That is how it was when I lived at home and basically how I "plan" meals. We came home for lunch until about 6th grade then brown-bagged it. We moved freshman year and I don't think I ate lunch very often during HS. Cardboard pizza and chocolate oatmeal cookie day when I wasn't outside smoking.

We didn't have a set menu growing up, but very common meals. When my wife and I were raising our kids we usually had Friday pizza night (and playing board games or movie night), and both my son and daughter were in scouts each had weekly meeting on different nights so those days were fish sticks or mac 'n cheese nights- or something quick and easy.

Always had 2 vegetables (or salad) at every meal.
