A few monthes ago I bought a 4 burner Perfect flame BBQ (gas) from lowes, about an hour ago I was preheating it for steaks, it was up to 250 degrees and all of the sudden it caught on fire, how does a metal BBQ catch on fire? I don't know but the metal frame around the grill did, it turned white hot and began throwing sparks and molten metal into the air, I came seconds from having to call 911, it wouldn't go out and caught my fence on fire also but i was able to drown it and get it out, It was the most unbelievable things I've ever seen so if you own a BBQ made by this company (made in China of course) keep an eye on it, I'll be taking it back tomorrow morning.

There are a few people on another forum that I read that have had the same problem. Somebody on there had posted a link to this recall of Perfect Flame Four-Burner Gas Grills.

I took it back to lowes being they are the dealer for this brand, they were shocked at the damage and gave my money back with no hassel, a crowd gathered to look and nobody could believe a BBQ could do that.

That is so scary! China, huh? Now that doesn't suprise me. Usually Lowes has a list of recalls and if this has happened before to other people I'm sure it's on that list. Lowes was just lucky you wern't hurt or your home burned down. They were probably more then happy to just have to give you your money back! They need to get this information out to the public so more customers don't need to experience the same thing or worse! Just happy to hear you had a happy ending!

Thanks for the warning. I have a gas grill from Lowe's too, but it's not that brand. If they'll take it back and it is a manufacturing issue, I would check on having the burnt portion of your fence replaced by them also.

I need to buy a new grill. Thanks for the warning. I will make sure whatever grill I decide on is NOT made in China. Glad to hear you weren't injured.

Kind of like the candles from China. Can't leave them alone for a minute. Next thing you know, the wax is falling apart all over the place the and whole thing is really on fire, popping little explosions like they had little gasoline pockets here and there.

Gee, it's really tough trying to stay away from products from China. Everything these days seems to come from China.

Thanks for the warning and good luck with your next barbeque!

If I ever get a house, I plan to use a smoker that would employ the use of wood. It just makes the meat taste so much better and allows for longer cooking time for barbecue. For steaks and burgers, I'd stick to a charcoal grill.

Glad you are safe. Call your HO Insurance so they can come out and pay for your fence.
