It's not absolutely imperative to use a wok to stir-fry, however the difference between good stir-fry and great stir-fry is using a wok.

Woks can take very high heat and their unique shape ensures better heat distribution allowing for faster cooking times.

I throw bowllets at mine.

I like the way you think Billy, I think you might be a POS just like me.

A wok isn't needed, but they can also be used to deep fat fry stuff, and the sides help w/pushing up stuff that is cooked and just needs to be kept warm.

But, what do I know.......i drag my wife by the hair to the cave and eat over open fire. ........well thats how I got her to the church 15yrs ago anyway..........gray tape helped too.
