Well, normally we would be cooking some dogs and burgers, maybe some ribs but this year we are driving to Rhode Island. Yes, that's right I said it, Rhode Island. Apparently some genius on my fiances side of the family planned their wedding on the 5th of July. LOL
So, for the 4th, we will be eating at a rehearsal dinner - and Lord knows, that could be anything - I hear the brides family are all Italian. Hmm.. something fundamentally wrong about not grilling out on the 4th. So, can someone please have a kick-a$$ 4th for me?
Actually, I'm not taking it as bad as I thought I would. I did manage to find an excellent dress for the wedding - that's a plus, right?

Our sub-division is having its 1st annual pig pickin. The pig gets picked up at the pork store at 6:00 am and on the smoker by 6:30, basted all day with the hosts secret sauce. The pig is done around 6:00 pm. All drinks alcoholic and non are supplied. We all bring a side dish and any fancy drink we may want. The great thing about it is we all walk up the street to get get to the party. Of course, fireworks and swimming. Right now the count is about 120. A fun and safe time for everyone.

Enjoy, that sounds like a fun day. Sometimes I wish we had more than just one neighbor!

Backyard grill-out ... typical burgers, franks, a few steaks and ribs, chips, potato salad, cole slaw, and plenty of ice cold beer and cider.

I'm not sure what's going to happen on the 4th. I'm leaving Florida early in the morning, flying into NNY around noon, then we have about a 2.5 hour drive to my mother's house from the airport. So....unless BIL makes a BBQ, I'm out of luck.

I've been to one Pig Roast. I have a tough time eating the poor little fella after watching him go 'round and 'round on the spit like that, so I usually just eat the dishes people bring and stay away from the pig. But it sound like fun otherwise! Enjoy.

What to eat for the 4th...hhmmmm.
Potato salad sure sounds good, but noone will eat it but me.
They won`t eat kidney bean salad, macaroni salad, none of it. Sux.
Sooooo...maybe some T-bones soaked in soy sauce or something with their special seasonings. We are sick of burgers and hot dogs.
Definetly, cold beer!
