I can't see getting good nutrition with 300 calories. I'm not a dietician but I have done a lot of research on diet and excercise and know that it is a personal thing. Not a one size fits all. It takes nutrient rich foods to get your MDR in ultra low calorie diets. Not rocket science. It's just simple math. I really believe the diet fad artists depend on new ideas to keep a paycheck on their table. Maybe more so than delivering the real truth. My Dr. put it plain and simple. You need to burn what you consume. Else..... They go into a savings account around the waist....

I've heard that on a real low calorie diet the metabolism goes into "starvation mode" and slows down a lot. Certainly, if you eat less calories than you're burning, you will lose weight, but there are other methods which might not leave you feeling as hungry..But everybody is different, and you want to stick with it, think about some additional low calorie snacks to stave off the hunger...celery spread with a bit of cottage cheese?

I think these "300 calorie meals" are supposed to be eaten 6 times a day, not just for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 900 calories a day isn't healthy for anybody, except perhaps the very obese.

actually the obese would need to eat over 2000 calories to start their weightloss. i know weght watchers and jenny craig work that way--the more you weigh, the more calories they allow you to consume each day. as you lose weightm your total calories decrease.

they say women should eat no less than 1500 and men no less than 1800.
so if they are 300 calorie meals, they would need to eat at least 5 times a day.

Minimum is:
Women= 1000-1200
Men= 1500

Anything under 1000 will reduce metab. 1200 is better for nutrient value. 1000 is really only for small women that are not active at all.

Everyone (fat or thin) should have thier intake be around 200-400 total calories per 3 hours to not overload the system. Its what the body is designed to handle. (thats 3 meals @ 400 & 2 - 300 cal snacks and 1-200 cal snack.)

I agree though..those look too tiny. I would reduce the fat and carbs and bulk with more veggies. You wouldnt be hungry then.

Medi-fast - used for obese patients is around 800 calories, but you get it from your doc and he does check ups, plus nutrient rich shakes are involved. You get everything you need on that.

I think this is the idea for these small calorie meals:

Breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, dinner like a pauper

Having something light in the evening is healthier for you for many reasons.
