We broil steaks, salmon, fillet of sole.
And the occasional garlic bread. Oh, and sometimes we broil swiss cheese on Triscuits, as well.
When I make stewed tomato sandwiches, I have to broil the American cheese on the toasted bread slices.
In our house, I'd say we were neck and neck with baking. Broiling is a close second. And we very rarely fry anything.

I broil steaks, salmon and make nachos with it. I find it a lot easier than firing up the grill. I love our grill, but if it's just the kids and me, well, I'm simply too lazy to bother with it.

The only time ours get used in when we preheat to bake and that is seldom. We broil for the 2 of us in a toaster oven. Less heat for the AC to over come.

I use the broiler for meat.
My baked chicken thighs recipe also uses the broiler. I shake the chicken thighs up in a paper bag with flour, seasoned salt/old bay, sage, and pepper.
I broil the chicken for 7 minutes bottom side up before turning the broiler off, flipping it, and baking it for 40 minutes at 375. Then I broil it for another 7 minutes.
This makes juicy chicken that is also quite crispy and yummy. Serve with flour tortillas (and salsa), rice, or mashed potatoes.

We broil steaks and fish whenever it's too rainy or cold out to grill. We've made nachos, too, when our kids were younger and both still living at home.
I also have a cake recipe that's a decades-long family favorite that has a broiled icing. It's an oatmeal cake with an icing made of melted butter, brown sugar, milk, cocoanut and chopped nuts. Broiling it cooks the liquid down into the cake and makes it almost like a pudding, and the heat caramelizes the sugar to a glaze - oh, it's a yummy thing. Too big and rich to make for just the two or three of us, so I save it for potlucks or parties, and we never have leftovers to bring home.
