Default Bacon makes everything better, even... chocolate?

Yum or yuck? Chocolate-covered bacon - TODAY: Food & Wine - MSNBC.com

Quote:
This year, Famous Dave's at the Minnesota State Fair is rolling out Pig Lickers — dark chocolate-covered bacon pieces sprinkled with sea salt.“It's just like the most bizarre combination,” says fair spokeswoman Brienna Schuette. “I actually really liked it. It was a good combination of sweet and salty.”

I'm going with the yuk, even tho I love both bacon and chocolate. I just don't think I'd like them together. But who knows?

They had chocolate covered bacon on Dinner Impossible a couple of weeks ago... I am very sad to say I was very curious...

Have you ever cooked your bacon on a cookie sheet in the over, covered in brown suger? It is so delicious... if you have not tried it like this before you must give it a shot... I never eat bacon unless I am out...never bring it into the house... but this is what my mom does...and it is YUM-O...it will leave you wanting more... it is dangerous- you have been warned...

Hmmm....could be. I like a mustard/brown sugar glaze and sauce on my ham. I bet I'd like that. Maybe chocolate isn't such a strange thought after all.

I never had bacon with chocolate, but I'd try it. I do love toasted bacon sandwiches though - bacon, grape jelly on toast. The sweet jelly is a great contrast with the salty bacon. I also sometimes put a brown sugar glaze on bacon, especially when making my baked beans. Even though I put bacon in the beans, it's never enough bacon, so as the beans cook, I have slices of this bacon cooking on top of the beans too, as an extra treat.

Default Odd sounding, but just maybe...

I worship the odd and the eccentric in food at times. Although this one sounded particularly odd at first, it began to intrigue me. I shall give it a try sometime soon I hope. It made me think about some of the flavor combinations I do try, especially in omelets. I am a fan of jelly omelets for one...just a simple omelet with grape or crabapple jelly AND bacon folded into the center, and sprinkled with a little powdered sugar. I have friends who will not even consider eating one of them. Another one I like is again a plain omelet with a filling of cooked vermicelli, shaved dark or bittersweet chocolate, and maybe some ricotta cheese if I have it.
