Hi everyone. I have not had Lamb since I was a little kid=eons ago. Anyone have some simple and easy recipes? Also, I'm assuming I just go to the meat market man and tell him I need some lamb?? (brainard here)

I saw an episode on the food channel where lamb was prepared. It looked delicious--a mustard sauce was involved.

'Silence Of the Leg O' Lamb'/Alton Brown>>>

Enjoy.

Carrots for certain and roasted small potatoes?

Peas, possibly. If you Google for Lamb recipes they probably show suggestions. In the episode I saw I'm sure they had roasted potatoes--cooked with the lamb--I didn't see Alton's show on lamb--I think he grilled his.

You will definitely need some fresh rosemary--almost all lamb recipes call for that.

I like lamb but haven't prepared it very often--a special occasion menu.

I would serve some time of sweet sauce--maybe cherry or some sort of berry sauce on the side mainly because I like a sweet sauce with lamb and pork.

I like lamb loin chops.
I only buy them on sale though--they are pricey.
Rub them with garlic, or if you really like garlic, chop some up and marinate them in it. Perhaps also a bit of cumin. Grill or broil them with rosemary, serve them with more fresh rosemary.
I steam the small red potatoes until approaching softness, then crisp them in a frying pan the last few minutes in olive oil and yes--still more rosemary. Maybe a Greek salad with feta, kalamata olives, tomato and red onion? Add a baguette and you're good to go.

Default Leg of lamb or lamb roast

For leg of lamb or boneless lamb roast I like to rub the lamb down with garlic and then put slivers of garlic and rosemary into hole cut into the meat about 1 inch apart. I coat the meat with a mixture of lemon juice, black pepper, mustard powder, olive oil, and soy sauce. I place the meat on a rack in an oven or cook over indirect hit on a grill, covered. As the meat cooks I baste it periodically.
