Out of area restaurants...
Most people have their favorite places to eat either right in their own town or close by. Whether it's a chain restaurant (Olive Garden, Outback, etc.) or a Mom & Pop type. We recommend these local places to all our friends and families.
But every once in a while people go on a trip (vacation or business), and run across a restaurant that just jumps out at them and they wish they could go back to.
Which restaurants have you been to on a trip that you would tout to others going to that area?
For me, I once made a trip to Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Outside of the back gate, there was a little Korean restaurant that had some of the best food!! Also, I think it was Yuma City in northern California... on the main strip (which isn't much to speak of in a town that small). But there was one small restaurant that served the best Mongolian BBQ I've ever had!
How about you?

The Mexican and Seafood reastaurants in Harvey's Hotel in South Lake Tahoe, and a little tavern in a small village near Lake Garda that had wonderfully simple, fresh, tasty food.

Shaw's (seafood) in Chicago is one of my all-time favs. When I was in Chattanooga recently I ate at a BBQ place called 'Rib & Loin' which was very good. Also was at the Brewery downtown there (Big River I think?) and the BBQ chicken pizza was awesome.

It's getting harder and harder to find restaurants that don't all taste like a Sysco truck. My dh and I used to travel extensively with our work and we rarely found any restaurants that offered home made cooking.
There is a place in Branson called Granny's on the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway (in Branson, MO) that advertises "no cans" and their food is good, although I have tasted better. Even though I do NOT go to chain restaurants, I have eaten at Cracker Barrel in the past and was very happy with the quality of their food. It tastes very home made, even though, presumably, it is not.

Agree 100%. Even the smallest independently owned places use a lot of pre-fab foods and appetizers that come out of a bag in the freezer.
I wish I could remember the name but there's a Thai place in Chicago that's cheap as can be and just blows away any I've ever had.

The Bean Pot in Crossville Tennessee, just off I-40. 24 hours a day, seven days a week and reportedly hasn't closed the doors once since 1973. Found it as I was winding my way the the Smokies about three a-m one morning. Nothing but darkness out there. I was hungry, the car was hungry and out of the dark came the Bean Pot. A happy camper was I.
