https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfort_food

This list that someone posted is good.

I've never even heard of some of the American food. The British list is closest to my list of comfort foods.

Cottage or Shepherd's pie-THANK GOODNESS there is homemade in the fridge!
Custard-YES YES YES
Chicken Tikka Masala-OKAY, but no nostalgia
Fish and chips-BIG YES YES YES. COMFORT FOOD +++++
Full English breakfast--no, too much
Bangers and mash--yes
Cauliflower cheese--yes
Cornish pasty--to die for
Fruit Crumble--especially apple
Yorkshire pudding--YES. Second only to Shepherd's pie and Fish and Chips.

(American of British grandparents) I want Fish and Chips NOW!

San Diego style Mexican food (which I seldom get these days)

Mashed potatoes and gravy

Fries and or loaded cheese fries

Skinny burger

Spaghetti with meat gravy

Buttered noodles or rice

Baked potato loaded with cottage cheese, green onions, salt and pepper

Tastes I've picked up since moving to Texas are biscuits and sausage gravy, jalapeño-smoked sausage kolaches, and chicken fried steak.

Christmas cookies

Salad with croutons, bacos, and ranch dressing.

I am such a carboholic.

those are on my short list. my mother didn't serve soup with sandwiches, so after having that at a friend's house, i asked for it. i like my rice pudding the most, too. while i love coffee, some foods and moments require tea.
