I'm not trying to live 100 years. When the mind goes the rest can follow.

I'm like you. Somehow wife & I were talk'n about "old age" and I said for my 80th b-day I want shot out back behind the barn. She didn't understand and wondered why I wouldn't want to live as long as I can. Told her I'm gonna use this "vehicle" I'm in and not pamper it so I get an extra couple yrs. I'm sure I'll have plenty of people lined up wanting to get their shot in also.
God also created mesquite, hickory, and pecan trees.

Bison and venison are underrated meats.

YES! My Mom used to slow cook venison roasts in the crock pot with red wine and basil. Yum!

You want venison? There are a few critters I have an issue with that have taken a liking to some of my favorite plants and are living in the field behind my house... I have no problem if you want to come over and have a little target practice

Venison is supposed to be one of the better healthier meats low in lipid makers. Same with most wild game. We do not eat meat every meal. A lot of nights we will eat say pancakes with fruit and most often do not eat meat at breakfast. I'm guessing we eat meat at must lunches and 5 nights a week. That is ample. We eat the full spectrum from fish to beef with a lot of chicken and turkey in the middle. Have a great grilling and smoking weekend every one.

If you want healthy AND knock your socks off delicious, try water buffalo. I used to be able to get it at Whole Foods, and it made the best chili I have ever made. Tastes like the best beef you've ever had in your life (and I've eaten a LOT of beef in my time). Just wish I could find a reliable source again. Hmmm, maybe I'll have a word with Central Market and see if they can get it.

There is a ranch here in FL that I see them on. I don't know if they are for breeding stock or they market them. I would like to try some on the grill. Sounds like a new meat frontier.

The meat we got used to come from the Texarkana area, but there are quite a few breeders in Florida - I believe the national association is based there, but it's been a while since I was a member so I may be remembering wrong.

I've read that horse is very good, lean, and high in omega 3's or something good for you. I've never had horse and I'd have no problem eating one, I hate those dang animals. (Sorry Texashorselady)

I wish you HAD gotten your hands on that nasty little guy... he is driving me NUTS... any takers? Honestly, I don't know if it is a guy or a girl or if that even matters in the land of deer hunting... but seriously... there are a bunch of deer living back there for the taking... I am sure you will have lots of meat this winter if you get 'em! Any takers????
