Never see Turkey Breasts for sale anymore
Is it just a phenomena in my area - or what?
In the 80s, I lived in NC, a big turkey producing state. So it was common to see nice turkey breasts at very reasonable prices every week. I smoked turkey regularly to use as lunch meat during the week.
I moved to KS and there - I also found turkey breasts at really good prices. Did the same thing - fixed them for lunch meat as well as main entree.
Moved back to NC in 2002 and strangely, except for holidays, I can't find turkey breasts . . . and when I do find them at holidays - they are quite expensive!
What is the reason? Has anyone else noticed this? Is this just a local issue for me and my grocery stores?

Don't go to a grocery store. Go to a meat market. No problems.

Well this has me stumped. I am gonna ask the manager at my local grocery store. We never see them and it is so odd since this is a big turkey growing state.

They've transformed into more profitable substances
The rest have been ground up, chopped up, cubified, nuggified, gravified and jerkified. Turned into shaved, thin sliced, thick sliced and loaf. Smoked, roasted, fried or broasted; baked ,broiled, boiled, foiled....(foiled...oh well it rymmed) At some point probably mixed with mechanically seperated partially defatted fatty tissue. Packed, stacked, racked and smacked right on the grocer's shelves. That's were it's at.

Ani, I have a cousin that works at Harris Teeter on Prosperity Church Road near Huntersville...I'll ask him if they stock them.
I know we have them here in the Seattle area, as I just bought two of them last week...
