I see people over and over mentioning green beans for Thanksgiving. Our families just absolutely hate green beans, and we wouldn't dream of serving them on Thanksgiving. Or any other occasion, for that matter. Are we the only ones?

I don't hate greenbeans, but they are not a favorite either. That whole green bean casserole things everyone serves looks disgusting and I don't even consider making it. I know my kids wouldn't touch it, so what would be the point.

Plain green beans I have no use for. Give me the creamy ones with the french fried onions on top and I'll eat a few. Otherwise forget about it.

I love green beans but green bean casserole makes me gag. I would never serve it at Thanksgiving dinner.

If I serve them at Thanksgiving it is simply steamed and topped with toasted almonds. I did find this variation and might try it sometime as well. Honey Almond Green Beans

We love green beans (not the casserole), but for some reason they don't make it to our table on T'giving.

(I'm the OP) We often do some kind of peas dish, one year I made a dish similar to the green bean casserole but with peas, in a creamy sauce, and topped with fried shallots that I made myself. I just couldn't stomach the idea of those canned onion things. Or sometimes we will have steamed asparagus with gruyere cheese, and bake it in the oven for a few minutes. And we also usually have a leeks/bacon/cheese dish.

We love green beans but nobody likes the green bean casserole. We like ours cooked in chicken broth, butter and with cut up onions.

I am not a huge fan of green beans - DH is though. I however do like the fresh ones out of Dad's garden - beans, some cut-up onion, chicken stock, or if I really want to be bad - perhaps a little ham hock, etc.....or bacon drippings.

We don't tend to make them for holidays usually. I made the green bean casserole once (ONCE), and I didn't really like it, DH tolerated it but never asked for it again!

We like green beans but I do get sick of the traditional green bean casserole on holidays it seems like most people make it. I think this year I will make green beans but put in a smoked turkey leg and let them simmer in some chicken stock with a little seasoning salt and pepper. I really get sick of the green bean casserole but everyone usually looks forward to it.
