I think I gained 10 pounds reading this thread....lol
No I dont keep it..But my old neighbor did and she always saved me a piece of her fried chicken that she made in it. Oh god...It was amazing. But you totally wanted to go to sleep after one piece. It was so heavy as she made it in the bacon grease with butter in an electric wok type thing.
Fried chicken in bacon grease and butter? My heart stops just reading that. Is she still alive?
I think that it's going to be the attack of the Brussels sprouts with hot bacon dressing. There's a lot of different recipes, but they all have one thing in common: the grease.
I'm wondering if the reluctant vegetable eaters will try a couple if they smell like bacon.

That is one veggie I can't get my taste buds to like even with bacon grease.

I have never tried them with bacon grease. Usually we use lots of smartbalance. I think for the next batch I may can get the wife to mix some bacon grease in with the smartbalance to see if they will be better. I love them.

LOL Maybe I'm being a little too ambitious here. The green beans with the hot bacon dressing it is. It would be a shame to waste the grease on something that nobody will eat.
I used to......and I like to fry with it....but in the interest of health.....I turned to using olive oil.
I also used to "try out" and save chicken fat (schmaltz) for cooking.....that is really the luxury of cooking oil.....and can be used in baking instead of butter.....but alas...I dont do that anymore either. I've even given up putting a piece of salt pork in my greens and green beans.
