If you were to be held captive for a year, and could eat anything you wanted, but it had to be the same thing every day, what would you request as you menu?

You can't just say "The Buffet at the Golden Corral"---you will only get enough food to keep you sustained, and you'll have to clean up your plate. But it will be prepared according to your specifications, so it will be as you like it.

I think I would choose beans and rice and corn tortillas.

My plate would have baked fish (salt and pepper only) 2 slices of whole wheat bread, a pile of chili/cheese fries. Then I could scramble things around on my plate. As it is; fish sandwich w/ccfries; fish w/cheese and chili fries; use chili and cheese like a sloopy joe with fish/ fries on side; put chili on bread top with cheese and fish like a pizzaria bread pie with fries on side. You should have made it tough and said we only get a single unmixed item.............in that case I would take fried mushrooms

That's funny, because before I read your post I already knew Tacos with beans or vegetarian "meat" filling. Various chopped crunchy vegetables fillings, chopped tomatoes and fresh grated chedder cheese. A selection of flavorful hot sauces Oh My! I'm going to make some right now

Definitely tacos (any kind) with sides of beans and rice. Of course, the tacos would have to have all the goodies/toppings and fresh, hot salsa!

My first inclination would be chocolate cake! But that would make me sick after a week... If it had to be only one food, I would actually choose pumpkin muffins--I absolutely love them, they are sweet, but if made right, actually have some nutritional value. But a meal...hmmm... I would have to think about that one.

I would have my favorite salad (baby spinach, bell pepper, red onion, goat cheese, pecans, and raspberry vinigrette. But what to go with it? Actually, I could eat a lot of grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Don't forget that this also has to be nutritious enough for you to live on for a year. The other two meals could be bread and water---or, more of the same.

Oooh, I know! I got a recipe off of the Food Network, I forgot which show (it has "The Ultimate" in the title), but it was awesome minestrone soup with a grilled cheese that had dijon mustard, bacon (I used veggie bacon) and thinly sliced tart apples on it (along with the sharp cheddar, of course). So, I think I would adjust my salad to something just as yummy as my previous pick but that goes along a little better with this meal, and then have this soup and sandwhich. Nutritious, plus you could pick off the bacon and/or apples to adjust for food fatigue (or just eat the bacon and apples). Protein, dairy, carbs, and lots of veggies. Yeah! ....do I win?

Fresh Fish/Seafood with green beans, courgettes( zucchini) and a herb salad. Tasty enough to not become too horridly boring and healthy so I can keep my strength up trying to get off that darn island !
