My mother used to make it when we were kids. It was a white clumpy sweet candy. Haven't heard about it since I was a kid.

You used to be able to buy it at Stuckey's. Not my cup of tea but I remember seeing it as a child on roadtrips in the midwest and south.

I love it. There's a candy shop in Ogunquit, Maine that has a bunch of different kinds, all yummy.

It was my most favorite thing my mother made. When I moved out of state, she'd mail it to me over the holidays. I've made it myself, thankfully caught her recipe from her before she passed. It's not easy, and you need a dry day, which isn't easy to find around the holiday season. I like mine with walnuts. She always had to make a batch without walnuts for my sister.

Why are you asking about divinity? I think it lives up to it's name: Divine!

Even though Maine is closer to me I buy it in Savannah, but not a lot. It's just too rich for me. Divinity: handmade Southern Gifts by Savannah Candy Kitchen

My mom always bought a chocolate-covered Divinity Egg from See's at Easter.

We carved thin slices off it with a paring knife after dinner.

Divinity in our area of the Midwest was marshmallows, canned fruit (usually fruit cocktail, drained of course) and whipped cream. It seems to me jello was in there somewhere as well. Jello mixed with whipped cream so you got this pastel green or pink stuff.

I hated the stuff. I have no idea how it was made. I would rather eat sugar with a spoon.

Yeah, it rears it's ugly head at Christmas every year. Yuck.

Sounds like there are some decent recipes, according to some posts here, but I never met any divinity I liked.
