Default when I make up cookie trays for friends/neighbors...

how many of each do I need to put? Would 3 of each be ok or would it seem cheap/skimpy?

I have:
frosted sugar cookies
oreo truffles
cake balls
saltine toffee
chocolate covered peanut butter cracker sandwiches
scooby snacks (aka puppy chow)
chow mein no bake cookies
peppermint sauce
and thanks to SMG, I'll be making peanut brittle tomorrow

Ok, I wasn't sure if I should be making more of everything to give 6 or more of each. I was thinking that maybe it wasn't cheaper after all. Thanks!

I put about 5-6 each of smaller ones and 2-3 of big ones. I also figure out depending on how many people in the household, etc. I give more for school office staffs so there's enough to go around.

Funny. I'm making almond brittle tonight. I found an easy microwave recipe.

I've seen lots of cookie trays with three of each. I think this is common. How many trays are you doing total?

Eight. 3 small ones for dh's coworkers, one for my awesome neighbor (best neighbor EVER), 3 for teachers and one for elementary secretaries (always good to get in their good graces when the kids will be there for a while).

In no way whatsoever am I knocking your cookie tray. However, one thing I add to mine is Hershey's kisses, etc. in the holiday foil. Sometimes I add some red/white peppermint individually wrapped candies/mints. They are cheap "fillers" of space on a tray and help it look festive. I just sprinkle a few here and there on my trays.

that's a good idea. They aren't REALLY trays though, they're tins. (semantics, I know)

The peppermint idea is good and CHEAP, lol.

It really depends on how big your tray is.

Three of each of those sounds like more than enough, but if the tray is too large then yes, it would look a little cheesy. However, with the right size tray, you will look more than generous!

Three are the tins from Dollar Tree - the small ones. 3 are medium sized ones from Walmart, one is a clear snowman tray dh bought @ Walmart yesterday for my neighbor and I'm not sure what to do w/ the one for the secretaries.
