Yes, true, but an interesting topic.

Not many people entertain in their homes anymore. Personally I would be so thrilled to have an invitation, that it would not bother me in the least to be asked to bring a specific dish. It's hard enough for someone to get their house clean, possibly rearrange furniture to accommodate a large group, and do even SOME of the cooking, let alone all of it. Like the old adage, "Many hands make light work."

If someone is so bothered at being asked to contribute a dish, they can always decline the invitation.
