I agree. Mrs. Smith's is a great brand for bake-at-home desserts.
My favorite dessert is cheesecake. I found a brand at Albertsons called Jon Donaire's NY style cheesecake. It's sold in two slice servings which is ideal for me. It lasts a long time in the fridge. Most of the time, I just take one or two bites. DH hates cheesecake so I have it all to myself. I like it better than Cheesecake Factory. It's slightly sweeter but not too sweet.
When I go out, if there's creme brulee on the menu, I always order that for dessert. I'm tempted to buy my own kitchen torch and ramekin cups and make my own but it will probably be a disaster on the first try. lol.

Nanaimo Bars. I even want to go to Nanaimo, British Columbia, to see if they're really from there and if they taste even better in Canada.

I'd like to get a simple recipe for simple baked custard, either in pie form or a baking dish.
I made flan for Thanksgiving last year and I hated it. That condensed milk made it sickenly sweet, though my guests seemed to like it.
I love simple custard.

Please share this recipe - it brings back fond memories of my grade school cafeteria (I know it sounds unbelievable, but we actually had real cooks at our school who made real food for us - breakfast and lunch!). They called it apple (or cherry) cobbler at my school, but it was really more like a crisp.
I love watching Ina - she is the 'Jacqueline Kennedy' of the food network compared to their 'Joan Rivers' (that would of course be Rachel Ray).

Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet

Chocolate and orange go great together! Have any of you ever tried the Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet from Baskin Robbins? I haven't bought ice cream there for many years, but that one used to be my favorite. They only brought it out once in a while. Deep dark chocolate with an orange flavor-- yummy!
Here is a recipe:
Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet
Stir together and put into an ice-cream maker:
1 quart milk
1 6-oz can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 cup sugar or equivalent sweetener
6 Tbsp. cocoa powder (unsweetened)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
Follow ice cream maker's directions.
Try it, you'll LOVE it!

Chocolate, anything chocolate, and cheesecake. Favorite family recipes:
Dad is making brownies now....yummy, he and I are the choco-holics.
Husbands Cake...from my Mom. You won't believe the weird ingredient.
Caramel-Choco-Layer squares....easy
Chocolate-swirl cheesecake...Oh I need something sweet NOW!!
These are all very rich, huh?

Tiramisu hands down. Afterwards a real cappuccino and biscotti.
A nice creamy cheesecake doesn't hurt though.

I have a good one, for those who are watching the sugar and it is really yummy.
1 tub sugar free cool whip
1 box instant sugar free choc pudding
16 sugar free oreos cookies (crushed)
1 can sugar free cherrie pie filling
mix pudding as directed, mix in 1/2 crushed cookies and 1/2 cool whip to make a moose. layer in tall bowl.
pudding mixure first, cool whip, cherrie filling, and repeat. On top last 1/2 cookie crumbs.
Very quick, very yummy and a kid crowd pleaser. with out all the sugar.

Oh, gosh, there are so many!! But chocolate tops it for me.
These are my favorites are off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are MORE!
* Freshly baked, loaded with chocolate chips, cookies
* Warm chocolate fondue dipped in with orange slices, maraschino cherries, marshmallows, and angel food cake slices!! YUM!
* And the faithful carrot cake!
Well, I'm off to the store now -- too hungry now to wait -- chocolate please......byeeeee!
