and vending machines!

I grew up perfectly happy with a 7 Oz Coke, or if you wanted a BIG drink, Pepsi, RC Cola, Nehi, etc came in a whopping 10Oz bottle. I dare you to buy a drink that small today, they don't exist. Seems the standard vending machine is now vending 20 - 22 Oz bottles.. NO ONE needs to drink that much soft drink, regular (15-20% of daily calorie recommendation), or diet (Oh the toxic chemical soup that imitates sweetness)

My husband and I were just talking about this. I got a "medium" soda at a fast food place last night and it was huge! I guess I'm switching to the small size next time, but at least I have half a semi-flat, watered down, diet Coke in the fridge for today.

Whatever happened to the 6oz serving?? (That lovely green coke bottle???) This is the problem---the cups cost more than the soda--and folks have started SWILLING soda by the gallon! A small cup, 6-8 oz, is MORE than sufficient! And not everyday!!! It should be a "treat"!

This is why I never get a drink at a fast food place anymore. Almost all of it would end up getting thrown out, and I'd never want to waste a precious soda that way!

I read somewhere that back in the 80s, the average size drink at a fast food restaurant was 12 oz. In the 90s it was 16 oz and now the average size at a fast food joint is 32oz! Crazy. No one needs that much. Makes you wonder why we're all fat....

I'm not positive, but I think I saw an add for a 64 ouncer at some 7-11 or similar place.

That's a half gallon!

How could anyone drink that much liquid at one time?

Unless of course it was beer.

Especially when you consider that soda contains the highest concentration of high-fructose corn syrup than just about any other food you eat, and apparently high-fructose corn syrup releases a chemical in your body that tells it to store fat. I've read that the average American is consuming 70lbs of this stuff a year, when 20 years ago no one had ever heard of it.
I've read studies comparing german teenagers consuming beer vs. american teenages consuming soda and the german teenagers were healthier...crazy.

Just don't drink it! I'm not fat, and I don't drink soda to excess! Maybe, one a week--6oz or so...Just because they give you alot doesn't mean you HAVE to drink it!

Somebody mentioned the cups costing more it drives me crazy to see people going into a store first stopping to throw away their empty 32 oz cup. Then going inside to get another 32 oz cup why couldn't they just refill their old one?

Until this "fat" tax starts hitting stores on soda fountains people are not going to stop buying 32 oz drinks for .69. I carry around an insulated 32 oz mug with me all day long but it has good old well water and ice in it.

Also why do people pay $2 and up at a sit down restaurant for soda when water is free and better for you?
