you've had hash and rice? unless you've been to SC, or maybe GA, you wouldn't have had the type of hash I'm talking about. Not that concoction with potatoes and beef, this is like a pork stew.
I am SOOOOOO picky about my bbq. The only time I've had some I like is in Texas. There's a little hole in the wall in El Paso called Chris's the brisket bbq. Now, I don't much like beef, but DAMN, his was flawless, as was his pork, sausage, and ham. Didn't like the sides, but when I was pregnant, I lived there. seriously. He got to know my name and everything.
Also a place in Fort Worth called The Sausage Shoppe, owned by an old friend of my dh's. WOOO - they're sausage is to die for. WOW.
Smoke it all night on hickory, go easy on the vinegar sauce, serve with a side of Hash & Rice.... mmmm

I kind of thought you might get in trouble with THAT one since most folks would have no idea what YOU meant by "hash".
I love some good hash. But you're right, it is pretty much a South Carolina and Georgia thing. Good hash can rival the barbeque itself. If there is a good bit of hash to eat, I love it by itself or made into a simple sandwich between a folded piece of white bread, too. When you see those hash pots bubbling away you know something good will soon be had.

If we're thinking of the same hash, most folks call it Brunswick Stew in Georgia and Alabama.
