It never would have occurred to me that Polish stuffed cabbage/golompki could be called pig in a blanket.
For me, pig in a blanket is a hot dog wrapped in a Pillsbury crescent roll. Or little ones made from slices of Pillsbury crescent roll and tiny cocktail franks.
I'm having to dig deep into my pantry this week and so tomorrow's dinner will be pigs in a blanket. What sides would YOU make to go w/ it?
golly haven't had pigs in the blanket for so long I don't even remember what we fixed with them. I am guessing either potato salad or cold slaw for starters.
Pig in a blanket, for me, has always been a veggie dog, spiral wrapped, in pizza dough. Usually had potato, coleslaw or pasta salad with it.
Toad in a hole, to me, is basically a popover that has animal bits in it and uses oil instead of butter. I love popovers, with out the animal bits, but can never get them to puff properly.
Wow, I always thought pigs in a blanket was a breakfast food and was thinking along the lines of scrambled eggs o9r a bowl of cereal. Aren't they sausages rolled in a pancake???
No they are normal hot dogs wrapped with some cheese and biscuits. They are yummy and delish. I serve them with sweet baked beans and steamed veggies.
First off you need dipping sauce(s) for you piggies. Nobody likes a bland piggy.
A nice cole slaw always goes well with hotdogs. Other sides that would be nice are:
Three Bean Salad,
German Potato Salad,
Deviled Eggs
French Fries
Onion Rings
Basically anything that you would have at a cookout that is serving hot dogs.
OP hasn't posted since 2017 - I always wonder how old threads like this get resurrected.
