There use to be a place in Phoenix metro area (Tempe) called Teds Hot Dogs that was sooooooooo good. No idea if it's still there. hmmmm
I like my own homemade. Go to the butcher & buy beef links in their own natural casings. Then good deli buns. I saute sliced onions, yellow bell pepper & tomato's in a light butter. Then pile on with mustard. Good lord... I'M HUNGRY NOW!
Deep fried dogs, if ya ask for a 'welly' it's well done, split open, and deelish
And they have their own house mustardy relish.
Did you catch Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" show this week on the Travel channel? It was a special on eating in New Jersery. He started off the show at Hirams hot dogs in Fort Lee. It reruns frequently, catch it if you can!

Grrrrrrrrr! My cable system doesn't have the Travel Channel.
I hope he made it to Hot Dog Johnny's in Butzville NJ. Maybe not the best hot dogs but a classic American roadside food stand, and you get a pickle spear on your dog and frosted mugs of birch beer or glasses of cold buttermilk are available

He didn't make it to Hot Dog Johhny's. He went to Hirams, a seafood place down the shore, the old Howard Johnsons in Asbury, a Korean place in Leonia, Satin Dolls (AKA The Bada-Bing club from the Sopranos), an Asian market in Fort Lee and a Italian Pastry shop.
